I have been away at the American Hernia Society meeting. Excellent meeting. Lots of discussion of techniques and different meshes. Biologic meshes are becoming more prominent in the repair of complicated ventral hernias. Lightweight mesh is a popular topic along with laparoscopic inguinal and ventral hernia surgery. Absent from any real discussion was the "Plug and Patch". I guess the real hernia experts no longer consider this a topic of interest. The "Plug and Patch" did come up in the session dedicated to post hernia pain syndromes.
