Yes Carole is right on the money. Try more than one anti-inflammatory. There are tylenol, and iberprofin types. My problems went on for 2yrs, and I ended up on Novo-Sundac(Sulindac), I really had some bad complications, the inflammation had been there for soo long that it was cutting off my circulation. This is a nasty thing, which I would not wish on my worst enemy, so do not wait, go see your family doc, and try 2 or 3 types, it will take a couple of weeks to see if they are working. Where I live it takes a year or so to see pain management, and normally it is a surgeon who refers your to a pain management, the problem is that I guess they figure the pain management doc is better quailified to diagnose the problem, this is very incorrect,
and if you have inflammation it is growing for the whole year as you wait for pain management, plus the injections that they give you may not help, especially if it is inflammation. The freezing will make the pain go away, but the steroid, or nerve block may not do anything. I found that the pain would go away when I layed down. And was really bad while I had my weight on my legs. I remeber posting here during the first year, when I thought I was bleeding inside, but what it was, was the pinching off of my circulation. This went on for at least a year, until finally the circulation slowed so bad that it caused my blood pressure to sky rocket, and blurry vision, headache, and throwing up. If you have inflammation, do not leave it too long, it really is slow getting rid of. To tell the truth, the docs had no idea what was wrong, so they kept sending me for test, instead of giving me the anti-inflammatories. Everything I read says that you are supposed to try conservative things first, like anti-inflammatories. Well I was never offfered these until 2 yrs later, and a full
nerectomy, pain management, and every test they could think of. It boils down that I had a bad family doc. I wish you good luck, hopefully you will have a better doc than me.
