Hi----51-yr-old female, no previous incisons to cause my ventral hernia--but am now 26 months post- open ventral hernia incision, using PHS. I do ok sometimes and have never had but one incidence (about 8 mos ago) that landed me in an ER with pain that was very much like my original hernia pain. Had 2 CAT scans with contrast that showed no hernia, they just said it was a muscle pull and charged me $2800 for the visit and an Rx for tylenol with codeine.
I have never had any what I would call horrible pain other than that episode, since my surgery Nov 2005 BUT I do have a physical job and feel I almost strain myself weekly---it is very frustrating. I do not feel I have "ever been the same" since the surgery. This past week I have had a dull sort of vague discomfort off and on, mostly behind my navel, where the hernia was located--and it sometimes feels it pulls into my inner thighs and rectal area and it is sometimes uncomfortable lying in bed---tonight, I started have a strange sort of stinging pain. I seem to always be "sore" around my navel area since this surgery. I have had the stinging pain in the past at times and it has always gone away. Does this sound like scar tissue or adhesions? Have others here had this type of experience that you were never quite the same----that you strain yourself a lot now---I am just very frustrated with this whole situation, after 2 years. Thank you for any comments.
