: And sure, like Kryschenn said up there, maybe Venger could
: wanted that redemption but... having the key to his hand, why
: don't use it himself. I mean, the result could be the same with
: Mr. Spooky One anyway, using the key himself or other, why don't
: make the move himself?
:
: Pure guessing on my part here, but I explained that to myself by
: saying that somehow, as part of the "curse" that was
: on Venger, he himself was prevented from putting the key in the
: lock and turning it. He had to get someone else to do it,
: vaguely like Beauty and the Beast : The prince could never
: break the curse of the beast by himself, he had to convince
: someone else to fall in love with him. Venger had to convince
: someone else to turn the key, and the only way he knew how to do
: it was by deceit.
:
: Shaky, I know, but that's the only explanation I have.
:
: Kryschenn

:
: See? That's the motherfreaking problem with that script. It's so
: awful that the only possible explanation for Venger's behavior
: is some cheesy, cheesy reason.
:
: Yeah, I know... curses has to come with solutions, we learned
: that in the current of literature history and with Terry
: Pratchett's Sourcery but was so easy as 'Shadow Demon! Take
: this, use in there!'. Yeah, I know you're saying that maybe
: Venger, as an evil entity, could not want to be redeemed but his
: inner self yes, so indirectly he uses the guys to break the
: curse and yadda, yadda... But that's subtext into subtext into
: subtext and that's another mark of a very bad episode because
: you need all that to explain that behavior in the same you
: should need the mother of all explanations to explain Sheila's.
:
: Also, taking Beauty and the Beast example... Beast didn't need
: to trick Belle to fall in love, he had to learn about loving
: someone, loving her, not only her loving him. What's Venger big
: lesson in 'Requiem', what he learned there? Tantrums shouldn't
: last two thousand years? Don't take candy from strangers in huge
: tornados? Father knows best? Doesn't matter how powerful your
: player character is, the DM still can screw you up big time?
: Sorry, but the guys learned about compassion and forgiveness in
: Dragons' Graveyard... I think even Venger learned about that in
: there. That episode is cool and the violence (for the time,
: those guys didn't know about Dragon Ball back in that day to
: call that violent ) wasn't gratuitous. In 'Requiem' I don't see
: the moral story at all, that's just bad, really, really bad
: >_<
:
All of which are reasons why I too am glad the script, at least as the first draft stood, was never made into an official episode.
