: interpretation was that it was abruptly going from fighting a
: powerful Wizard who could and would fight back with equal force,
: to suddenly being about to kill someone who couldn't defend
: himself that made Hank realize that if he went through with it,
: he'd end up, like he said, no better than Venger himself.

I think Hank might also have begun to realize that their motives for seeking to take down Venger were wrong; they weren't doing it to save the Realm from him, but to get revenge for all the times he'd destroyed their hopes of getting home. Seeing Bobby's own vengefulness over Venger's wounding Uni probably brought that home all the more.
