If one were not restricted to the 1980’s, I think I would have chosen the Hanna-Barbera of ca. 1964 to have done it (assuming the involvement of Doug Wildey and Alex Toth); if I had had to go with the ’80’s, I think I would (with some regret, as I think I would have preferred the background and character designs to have been done by Filmation) have to go with Rankin/Bass, inasmuch as I know that at least some of their scripts were passable. True, it would have meant a jarring soft rock background instead of a more symphonic score, but I think the writing would have suffered less. What do you guys think?
