Posted by dayofthedm I'm rewriting Tiamat's involvement as a treasure-greedy dragon- it doesn't work for me- to reclaiming it. Instead the children (and this is tricky for me to justify this) traveled to the Dragon's Graveyard (possible only under certain perfect conditions) in a previous mission sent by DM that floundered hours ago. In that time Eric took a box of money, unaware this was actually 'stealing' from Tiamat. Tiamat finds the offender and wants to bring the treasure back to the Dragon's Graveyard at any cost.

Working on the script for DotD right now- 13 pages into it with perhaps some 30 left to go. I like the dragonbane idea and plan to use it. Only it will not kill as it did in the TReasure of Tardos- it will neutralize or else frighten or drive evil dragons away.
Eric's shield will have levitating powers.
"Then you've got other problems like Tiamat being dumbed down as
: a treasure-hoarding dragon in Day Of The Dragons. I cannot see
: her being pacified through avarice but that's a minor problem.
: The big problem is that Day Of The Dragons uses dragon bane
: which was a plot idea recycled in Treasure Of Tardos. Dragon
: bane would have to be replaced with something else like water
: from a sacred spring or even the dryads' tears. Anything that
: isn't leafy and from the plant kingdom. "

: Thank you for your insight- it appears as though at least some
: editing is needed for all of the episodes you described.
:
: Here's a blurb.
: Good news about Eric's shield- unlike in the show, at least in
: my
: fan-made intro, and most likely in the Requiem show, you
: will see his shield levitate at least once, as well as
: other things (we-meaning Eric learns it just as we do!).
:
: You'll see that the children's totems have enhanced abilities
: the
: come with their experience(it's in the works)- though Presto's
: hat
: still casts itself rather than he! In the fan intro, see a
: familiar
: face or two- good and bad.
:
: For Requiem, I scripted a prelude to the fateful meeting b/t
: Venger
: and DM (taking place before Act I), and have begun the
: storyboard
: process. Can't tell much now, but the events leading to the
: temptation should make sense.
:
: I have a sudden thought- I want to give Eric's shield some
: offensive
: power- perhaps the shield, depending on it's master's mood (e.g.
: it
: destroys if Eric's angry, fires a stun beam if Eric's
: frightened)
: from that eagle crest on it- only he has to learn to control it
: properly. When I saw Eric grab that pitchfork in the Dragon's
: Graveyard, I wondered why he didn't use it. But I digress...what
: do anyone think about that idea?

: Ooh, name-checked!
:
: Yes, the premises are from the Series Bible and all penned by
: Richard Merwin who I think came up with some pretty good
: stories. The trouble is most of them would need to be altered as
: they don't work continuity-wise as a hypothetical fourth season.
:
: The biggest problem is a redeemed post-Requiem Venger no longer
: being available as the central villain. He pops up in City Of
: The Githyanki and Spell Of The Ice Wizard (by proxy via shadow
: demon), but only as a foe to evade. And again in The Crystal
: Forest but could be replaced by any evil wizard responsible for
: cursing Nestor. Quite crucial in Master Thief Of Baal-Dur as
: it's about stealing the kids' magic items which is a trademark
: of Venger.
:
: Then you've got other problems like Tiamat being dumbed down as
: a treasure-hoarding dragon in Day Of The Dragons.
:
: Then you've got Kelek popping up again in Janapurna And The
: Stallions Of Hokar who is completely disinterested in unicorns
: now and doesn't even bother to cage Uni. (Maybe he thinks
: they're not worth the bother since that fiasco with Venger and
: his castle collapsing.) But Kelek could easily be swapped for
: another evil wizard.
:
: And in Yugol And The Curse Of Stone Eric's levitating shield is
: used as a kind of magic carpet to get to Skylla's castle but the
: levitating properties were scrapped, sadly. (I think Eric's
: shield is the most boring magical item of them all and could
: have done with this quirk, acting like a stubborn steed from
: time to time.)
:
: I'm not going to speculate on the five new premises to make up
: the fourth season as I think succumbing to the plotting and
: writing of fan-fiction will be my absolute downfall. (I'm
: already working on maps; fan-cartography!)
