Dungeon Master: How much influence does he have?

I wanted some opinions about Dungeon Master:

Did he purposefully seek out these kids to bring them to the Realm? Or did the Realm itself choose these kids to bring them to this different world? Or was it just a random worm hole opening up that brought the kids to the Realm?

In other words, was it destiny, or a random act that brought the kids to the Realm? If it was pre-ordained, was it by Dungeon Master, or someone else?

Is there any instances in the show to support your take on it, (one way or the other)?
