Slightly OT...but...
In my opinion, Jackson only did so well be cause he loved the books so faithfully. Don't forget that he had Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh to help him. They are two very good writers/producers who don't get the credit they deserve. Together their joy for the books was infectious, and spread to all the cast. Everyone wanted to do their very best, because everyone felt the project was very special.
If Dungeons and Dragons were to be done, the only way that it could be done as well - is if someone who loves it as much as we do, were to direct and support that effort.
