I give Sean more credit than that.
I give Sean a great deal of credit, too, Kane — but he didn’t ask “If I were to remake the D&D cartoon…,” he asked, “If the D&D were to be remade… .” He asked in general terms, and I answered in accordance to the sort of general trends I have seen in a number of updated versions of old shows. I didn’t have Sean’s excellent live-action work in mind; as my post suggests, I think, I had in mind versions of old shows that follow certain tiresome modern fashions, as for instance making the show “dark” (like Buffy), or using manga-style art, or sneering at the conventions of the original show in the fashion of the deplorable Venture Bros. I would have very little hesitancy entrusting Dungeons & Dragons to Sean, but there are, alas! far too many fans out there whose ideas remind one of Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn selling “hobbit-on-hobbit” to Peter Jackson.
