: C'mon, Tann, this is Sean we're talking about. I give Sean more
: credit than that. He wouldn't make it lame. I trust his sense of
: what the fandom wants. I have total faith in him.
Hahahahaha, I'm flattered!

:Is this a fan-work you/a friend are considering, Sean? It sounds really :interesting!
No, not really. Just some ideas in my head, floating around.
Hahahahaha, no Tann, I certainly wouldn't drag our beloved series through the gutter! I wouldn't have everyone swearing and walking around nude or anything like that. I was just thinking about myself, and how I was then, and how I am now, and how I would have grown up and changed if I had actually lived through what they went through on the series. Certainly, the stories would be intelligent and mature, like "dragon's graveyard". I just wouldn't want it to be corny, like "Xena" or a show like that. I would definitely want it to be much more serious than that. Much more like "Lord of the Rings".
But I was thinking, if that had been me in that realm, and I was the age I was now, I certainly would've had to deal with things like coming around a corner for my turn to bathe in the river, and maybe catching Sheila getting dressed. And the sexual tension we all see in the show - how would that play with late 20 yr old/early 30 yr olds? I think it most definitely would be quite different than how a group of teenagers dealt with it.
The other day, I heard about a guy who made an online Star Trek fan series. Apparently he actually purchased the online rights to Buck Rogers, and will now be making an official, legit series for online, based on a classic franchise that I imagine the studio figured wasn't currently making them any money, so why not. Naturally, I can't hear about that and not wonder if the same thing could be done for our favorite cartoon.
I really like the realism and seriousness of the "Rings" series, but that series doesn't have the same sexual tensions as D&DC. And the endless frustrations of being with the same 6 people from teen years through adulthood. It is absolutely inconceivable to me that romantic relationships would not have been formed between the kids as they got older. I think exploring all that stuff would be fun, and to tell those stories in a realistic way might entail Diana catching a glimpse of Eric while Eric thinks he's bathing alone. Would she watch for a second? maybe 16-18 yr old Diana wouldn't, but maybe 30 yr old Diana would, especially with the shape Eric would be in after spending years of living in essentially medieval times.
I mean, that's not all it would be about, of course! I was just thinking of that small element of it yesterday when I posted.
if it's not fun, what's the point?
