This is my first post. I have had PF for over a year. Seen Dr. 1st Cort Shot help 80% for about 6 months. The terrible pain was back. 2nd shot did nothing. Dr. said that he would not give me another. He wants me to have the shock wave therapy done. Is this the same as Orthotripsy? It is done in a mobile unit about 75 miles from where I live. His cost is 1875. Dont know the cost for the unit. Dr office has sent off my pre -auth to my Ins. If they do not pay I am thinking I should pay myself and have it done. Pain is so bad now that I am getting desperate. That is a big chunk of change to spend but those of you that have or have had this pain must understand. I have always been very active until this past year. thanks for any input
: I've had awful heel pain (plantar
: fascitis) since 10/2002. Tried
: medication, orthotics, more
: medication, shots (steroids) and
: finally had the orthotripsy done.
: WOW! It actually works. First day
: out of sugery a little sore after
: anesthesia wore off but 2nd day and
: after, almost no pain at all!!! If
: you've got heel pain, this is the
: trick. I could barely walk in the
: morning and now I can barely feel my
: heels. AWESOME is all I can say!
