swollen ankles and sore feet

I would like to know what i can do to stop the pain and swelling of my ankles and my bottoms of my feet hurt so bad i may have to quit my job andi just started it in retail and it is so hard to stand all day when your a little overweight and diabetic..What can i do to relieve some of this pain because i can not take it any more..I need suggestions please
