Posted by Cuddles Take a pain pill at the first twinge of pain- even if it's slight. Otherwise, you may regret it. I waited too long one time and was in misery. Of course it might be different for you but it was pretty intense the first day or two. Any other questions, feel free to post here or email me. Good luck! --Previous Message--

It's been a year but my foot was numb for the first day until the next day when it "woke up". I slept on and off the first day becuase of the anesthesia.
: Hi, I read your post with interest. I
: face surgery for my heel spur on
: Fri. and am scared the pain after
: surgery will be bad....how was
: that for you? I am a nervous wreck
: over having any surgery at all but
: also work in retail and cannot
: manage the pain any longer.
: Thanks for any advice or consolation.

: hi! I had the surgery done in May of
: this year. Today was my first day
: back at work-I work in retail so I
: am on my feet constantly.
: The surgery went really well and
: there were no complications.
: I am having normal tired foot pain
: but the pain I had from PF is
: GONE!
: It's important that if you have the
: surgery- as with every surgery- do
: exactly what your doctor says. If
: he says stay off your feet, then
: do it!
: My mistake was when he told me to
: wean myself off crutches and start
: wearing a shoe, I did it too
: quickly and then limped around for
: a week until I saw him and he told
: me that would make it worse so he
: put me back on crutches.
: The only real pain was the first 3
: days but I was on pain meds so I
: didn't notice it much.
: It's hard to get used to walking on
: it and it's really gross when you
: put your foot in the water for the
: first time- the skin starts
: peeling from not using your foot
: and it's gross. LIke a sunburn.
: But nothing else helped me and i have
: a great doctor.
: I am willing to talk to any of you
: who have any further questions.
: Feel free to email me!
