: I am a University Lab Instructor and
: must stand for 6 hours at a time -
: usually 3 days a week. The pain
: is chronic and sometimes
: unbearable. What can I do? I
: started a summer job - hostessing
: at a local crab joint and think I
: should quit and give my foot the
: summer to recuperate before the
: new school year. Would appreciate
: some advice. I've only been
: hurting for about a month.

I'd see a podiatrist and immediately get shoe orthotics. Sometimes they can make all the difference - but make sure your insurance covers them, they're not cheap. I have the Ossatron treatment done in April - had the problem bi-lateral - in both feet. It has given me my life back. If you are in the beginning stages, do what you can now to help eliviate some pain - Advil works wonders too, I just didn't want to take it continuously. Let me know if you have other questions.
