Hello,
Ihave had chronic platar faciitis for over two years now. I have tried just about everything short of surgery. Shots, alot of amti-inflamatory drugs and other pain killers, physical therapy at the Docs office, physical therapy at home and just about every kind of insert on the market, and hundreds of dollars on shoes. And, did I mention custom made orthotics that didn't work at all, even made the pain worse! I wouldn't wish this pain on anybody.
The PT of rolling your foot on a tennis ball or large dowel or a cold can will help temporaily, but unless you can go sit on the beach the rest of your life and enjoy the spa life, I'm not sure that there is an answer. (I did talk to one guy who said he wore a night splint at bed time for six years! Has anybody heard anything new? Thanks, Robert
: Hello. I have platar faciitis and it
: kills me when I get up from a
: comfortable position, like after
: sleeping. My heels kill me and the
: pain is so severe. I have gotten the
: shots, and they hurt so badly. I
: wish there was an easier and less
: painful way to recieve relief. I got
: a shot in my right foot originally
: almost 2 months ago and the pain
: subsided for a months time, then in
: the left foot and the pain has not
: yet subsided. Need to go back for a
: nother shot but they are so
: expensive and I cannot afford the
: orthotics now. Any other suggestions
: email me. catnfrank@aol.com

: Hi Elaine,
: I have the same problem as you,
: though much less severe. It
: started about 8 months ago. I
: tried wearing a custom orthotic (I
: have flat feet), but to no avail.
: My podiatrist gave me
: anti-inflammatory pills, which
: relieved half the pain for about a
: month, then their effect started
: to fade.
: I have heard that shockwave /
: ultrasound treatment and
: physiotherapy may help. When all
: fail, a cortisone needle shot
: right into the heel may be the
: last measure.
: I am also open to all suggestions on
: how to cure plantar faciatis
: without undergoing surgery or
: getting a needle shot.
