Posted by Phil There are a couple of ways to approach arranging hang gliding lessons. First, professional hang gliding schools that provide lessons full time and employ certified instructors. They can be found here: http://www.ushga.org/schools_table.asp?state=ca The second way would be check for a local club in your area, find them listed here: http://www.ushga.org/clubs_table.asp?state=ca). Check and see if they have a certified instructor in the club. A list of all California Certified Instructors can be found here: http://www.ushga.org/instructors_table.asp?state=ca If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. Phil

Hi Curt,
There are huge differences in the choices. A professional school will generally charge you more money, but in return, they are much more likely to accommodate your schedule, meaning lessons when you want them, and generally provide more modern training equipment.
The instructor you find through a club usually has a "real job" and only teaches when it's convenient for him or her. This can be frustrating if you want a lesson right away. These instructors usually charge less per lesson though.
Check out the links I've provided, they should help.
