Second, is it possible to launch a hang glider anywhere (by this I mean is is within the rules)? I live in the central valley of california, and I know for a fact that there are LOTS of thermals here (I have an A-SEL license and routinely get tossed around in them). Can I just launch anywhere, as long as I don't go into B,C, or D airspace? That would be ultimate freedom...go out into the hills here and just soar around! But I would hate it if I always have to go to specified "hang gliding" areas. Well, thanks for your guys time!
