That's right Roger, let's ignore reality and move right to slinging your unnecessary shots at us. BTW, there is not a single flying site around that polls every person who flies there before making a decision - not even close. What a cluster F that would be (unless you are referring to a members only site like the one near Chico). We do however have a website that offers visitor access to club contacts and to a site improvement request form (a form you won't find on many flying site websites). So far only one club has used that option and in 2010 we did the work they indicated they'd pay for, at our expense.
Look around you at Hat Creek Rim Roger, there are 2 toilets, 3 LZs, 2 launches (one that has facilitated thousands of safe launches), windsocks in every LZ, a fantastic setup and parking area, miles of safe soaring area, a flying community that supports the substantial operating costs and site protocol, a club that diligently honors the requirements of the Forest Service and of the USHPA, volunteers who spend hundred of dollars of their own money every year maintaining the site and cleaning up and repairing the vandalism - but let's forget about that, right? That insignificant and doesn't matter, right? You're angry with us and that's all that matters - I get that.
We pride ourselves in keeping the flying community informed about what is going on at the site and what is expected of us there.
You choose to see things the way you want - not the way they are. We answer to the FS and now the USHPA - it's all there on the website for everyone to read, including a directive from the president of the USHPA.
It's clear that you will do as you wish despite the effect it may have on the site. This is the same type of mentality that has led to vandalism of our property and that of the Forest Service.
Like I've said before, we are open to working with any group that earnestly wants to work together to resolve any issues at the site. The focus should always be about what is best for the site and the users there. I think the actions of our club over the last 3-plus decades shows a clear and continued ability and commitment to do that.
