Hello:
I think I have posted this before but I have a quote from the Vol. 8 (1961)of the Mississippi Genealogical Society Quarterly. It was posted by Hatty Wooten Harmon Roberds, daughter of Rev. Marion F. Harmon of Adair Co. and relied on by her in gaining membership to the DAR. The article states: "Rev. Marion Franklin Harmon, Sr., born in Adair County, Kentucky, Nov. 25, 1861, was the oldest child of Creed Washington and Louisa Smith Harmon; a grandson of Roland and Cassandra White Harmon and a great grandson of George and Nancy Bethsheares (Beshares, Brashers?) Harmon." After reading this site I found the marriage bond for George Hermon [Harmon] and Nancy Bethshears filed on Nov. 1799 of Brunswick Co., VA records. The owners of two neighboring farms had just died at that time-George Harmon died 1797 and Thomas Bethshears died 1798 in Brunswick Co., VA. Their farms were side by side on Peahill Creek, about three miles north of the North Carolina border. Hope this helps.

: My earliest documented Harmon family
: ancestor is John Harmon who died in
: 1829, Adair County, Kentucky. Many
: researchers assert John Harmon is
: the son of George Harmon. I would
: like to learn more information about
: the ancestors, family, and
: descendants of John Harmon. The
: wife of John Harmon was Mary
: Pendleton Harmon, daughter of John
: and Elizabeth Pendleton. The Harmon
: and Pendleton families were early
: 19th century pioneers in Adair
: County who settled along Green
: River. It will be a pleasure to
: communicate with anyone who is
: interested and knowledgeable about
: the Harmon family of Adair County.
