MARY A. HARMON (STUBBS was her maiden name). In 1843, her father, THOMAS B. STUBBS, SR. was given a Land Grant in the
Shiloh/Pickwick Landing area for 200 acres. After the Civil War, the government wished to make this land into a
National Cemetery. They took the STUBBS
decendants to court in 1869, and still continued to bury the dead even before a
Court decision had been made. They ended
up giving the STUBBS heirs $500.00 for their 200 acres. MARY A. (STUBBS) HARMON
represented all the STUBBS heirs: SARAH MOSELY, THOMAS STUBBS, JR., BENJAMIN STUBBS, HENRY STUBBS, CHARLIE STUBBS and
FRANCIS STUBBS.
The Stubbs family came from Georgia and had a large plantation in Tippah County,
Mississippi until 1869. Evidently the two
married daughters, MARY HARMON and SARAH
MOSELY lived on the Hardin Cty, Tn (Shiloh) land until the government sought
control of the land. Any information that
you can provide will be appreciated.
