Hi Susan, I am also a descendant of
Henry Dewitt Harmon by way of his daughter Sarah/Sally and her husband Ansel Adams (my gggrandparents). Apparently Henry and Delila had traveled from Kentucky to Wellington, Kansas in order to be close to Sarah and her family. They are both buried in the Osborne Cemetary in Mayfield.
Both the Harmons and the Creekmores had moved in the very early 19th century orginally from the Carolinas into Tennessee and than on through the Cumberland Gap finally settling in Whitley County, Kentucky. Here they married, raised their family and farmed the land. Henry was also the US Marshall, having taken the 1850 Federal Census. I have a lot of information, names, dates, locations and will share if you would like.
Take care
