Our friend Ken Roberts produced this recording and video in his studio in Torrance, Ca. in 2017.
Not seen in the video is Ed King....but it is Ed playing lead guitar.
Howie Anderson did it for the video...using a Tele like Ed did on the 67 version. Ed played his 59 Les Paul here.
Ed recorded his tracks in Nashville.
Ken managed to get original lead singer Gregory Munford to come out from Maryland...Greg had declined an invite to join the band back in 67. It was great to have back for this version.
Randy Seol who did most of the background harmonies on the original is here doing the same. Over the years Randy took on the lead vocals for all our live performances.
Gene Gunnels played the drums and cowbell on the original recording but had quit the band at the behest of his then girlfriend before the record was released....she wanted him to get a real job! That's when they got Randy to join the band. Gene and Randy have been sharing the drum throne now since 2007.
Mark Weitz played Farfisa organ and piano just like he did on the original track. Mark wrote the music to I&P along with Ed who wrote the bridge section. I played acoustic bass and Fender precision bass on this version. Ed played a Fender Jazz bass on the original track.
Steve Bartek, who played flute and wrote songs on the first SAC album also joined in our 2007 reunion and has been with us ever since in one capacity or another. He was busy doing film work when these sessions were happening.
We've all been working on our new album this past year...sans Munford...we have enough logistical trouble to contend with (Randy lives in Baja, Ca. and Gene in Las Vegas) but it would be nice.
Anyway, that's it in a nutshell....
Oh yeah, IT'S HOWIE'S BIRTHDAY TODAY!!!!
Must see and hear: "I&P" 50th celebration song!
