George Schlatter contacted us and said to be at the new 2 Freeway in Glendale...early morning call. They had a full film crew and a black cadillac stretch and a row boat...there was a wardrobe person with raincoats, etc.
We spent the better part of the day on this freeway which was scheduled to be opened for the first time the next day.
They had all those sledge hammers and tools ready to go. They had a couple of guys breaking the door hinges with welding torches and tying wire cables to them that would eventually be used to pull the doors off. It was so weird and fun. They also had little tricycles for us to pedal around on. We had no idea what the point of it all was...other than the car supposedly breaks down and we get mad at it and proceed to destroy it. Then we ride off on the bikes and when that failed we got in the row boat and were towed off...It was also supposed to be raining but it wasn't really...just overcast.
Being that the song, Tomorrow, was a look into the future, they may have written the bit around those ideas...Life will be a different game...Carnivals and Clowns....Together we can make it through...? I only know that it was scripted out....
Hi!
I was recently re-watching SAC content on YouTube and one of the best quality available videos is Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In performance, with SAC destroying a black car while wearing yellow raincoats, it made me think "what was the reason for all this? is there even any reason for it or was it a reference to anything?". I was also thinking about whether there are any hidden archived SAC promo videos or just any content from 60s ?
hope you guys are having a good year so far!!
