Yes, the members of SAC are somewhat of a brotherhood. We shared an extraordinary moment in our lives as well as a special moment in pop history.
Much like the stories from inside the Fab Four's inner circle, we were basically alone in our shared experience. We couldn't even explain it all to our closest friends and family.
To this day it's still our own little world that is impossible to explain to an outsider, but we all know with a wink or a nod.
I think our most profound experience is doing two tours with the Beach Boys and Buffalo Springfield. I know they felt the same way. For those moments in time we all got to be in each others worlds and we realized what it was like to be super successful. We were so fortunate to see that world from the other groups viewpoint.
SAC did a few shows with the Airplane but didn't have much interaction with the them. I did smoke a joint with Kantner backstage at a gig we did in Glendale, CA. back around 1995. I talked to Marty at that show but I couldn't tell you what about...
I liked Surrealistic Pillow....My friend Rick Jarrard produced it.
Hey guys!
Firstly, much belated sympathies for the passing of Ed King.I was certainly saddened by the news not only as a fan,but also because I personally had the distinct honor on chatting with him once or twice here on this site.Recently,I've heard some Skynyrd on local classic rock radio and have even deeper appreciations for his bass on "Free Bird" as well as co-writing and guitar on "Sweet Home Alabama".I imagine that just as did the four Beatles, the members past and present of SAC did indeed enjoy some unique experiences together as a well functioning touring and recording musical combo....did you have any personal interactions with the late great Marty Balin? What's your favorite Airplane song and album?
