Bass player"
Probably best not to get the band started on the subject of Gary. The short version is that he was a holdover from "Thee Sixpence" who became redundant as a bass player when George joined the band. I have heard reports that he did not play a single note on the SAC records, bass duties being handled by Ed and George. He did no significant songwriting either, but quickly stepped up front when cameras were around. In early 1968 he accepted a buyout to leave the band. Later, after firing their manager it was discovered that many bills were unpaid and most of Gary's settlement was still owed to him. I believe he later sued SAC for it and at that time the band had dissolved but Mark Weitz was left unfairly "holding the bag" and had to pay Gary off a substantial sum out of his own pocket. That was salt in the wound of Mark's SAC experience and as you can imagine, Gary is not remembered fondly. I recognize the possibility that Gary had no malice in his actions, and would like to hear his memory of SAC days, but this is not the place for it. If anything in this post can be proven inaccurate, I welcome corrections. --Previous Message-- : Hello all so i was reading on the fourms the : first bass player Gary i think his name was, : i heard he showed a gun to a nun.
