Mark Weitz, the keyboardist and original leader of the Los Angeles psychedelic rock band Strawberry Alarm Clock, was struck by a car while walking across the street (with a green light) in Toluca Lake on Friday night August 19th and was taken to Cedars-Sinai trauma center. He has been released and is recovering at home but was very badly hurt. The impact broke his neck in 3 place, ruptured a disc and caused a bruised lung and cuts in his head that required 13 stitches. He has kept a positive outlook considering his injuries, but must wear a rigid neck brace, get lots of rest, and will not be able to play keyboards or travel until further notice from doctors. The band will still play their upcoming concerts at the Chapel in San Francisco and the Desert Stars Festival in Pioneertown, but replacing Mark on these shows will be Glenn Brigman. Glenn is a talented musician and very active in the Los Angeles psychedelic rock scene with bands such as The Creation Factory, Triptides, and Frankie and the Witch Fingers to name a few. The Strawberry Alarm Clock family wishes Mark the all best as he recovers, but asks fans to respect that he presently needs to rest and heal his wounds. Mark wants to send his love out to all our friends and Alarm Clock fans, and thanks everyone for their prayers and healing vibes!
