It was most certainly a nod to the Beach Boys....They did some other bit on that same album at the end of one of the songs...an actual Beach Boys vocal thing.

: That's cool George! Too bad the band decided
: not to do it, I think audiences would dig
: it...although I can certainly understand not
: wanting to have to sing "Gliddy glop
: gloopy"!
: Somehow that doesn't surprise me at all that
: the talented Mr. Freeman played that
: part..certainly not the easiest of
: instruments to play. What a guy he was!
: I always wondered if the Beach Boys "
: Wild Honey" influenced that intro, so
: its cool that there may indeed have been a
: Beach Boys connection there.

: Hi Jon!
: I was out of the band by that fourth album
: but I do know it was Lee Freeman who played
: Theremin on GMS.
: Not sure how true it is, but it was said to
: be Mike Love's...The very same one he played
: on Good Vibrations!
:
: We rehearsed that song last year for
: inclusion in a live show. The band has a
: disdain for the song - It's understandable
: being that it was so overtly commercial for
: the time. But, I'm with you, I think the SAC
: version is way better than Oliver's. Mark
: Weitz thinks otherwise...He likes the intro
: of Oliver's version.
: Funny thing is we ended up with too many
: songs for the set and that was the first to
: go...i was the only guy in the band who
: voted to keep it in! We never did it
: again....oh well.

: Howdy all in SACland! Hadn't been on the
: board
: here in quite a while...
:
: I recently became the owner of a Moog
: theremin and it got me wondering, who played
: the theremin intro on Good Morning
: Starshine? I understand it wasn't the band's
: idea and the fellas weren't thrilled with
: recording the song, but I've always thought
: the SAC version beat the hell out of the
: Oliver version!
