At the time the so called "hippies" thought of themselves as the counter culture.
The 70's and the end of that war brought with it all sorts of issues. Drugs, PTSD, disrespect for service men and women, STD's and a host of other uncharted territories.
Music went towards country rock then disco then glam rock then it all swirled into an abyss...an abysmal abyss! The counter culture were swept up in all this and became irrelevant at best...plus most of them had to get real jobs and grow up...
