In a similar note, there's NO WAY a song like Sugar Sugar was legitimately a #1 hit single when CCR had Green River and Bad Moon Rising stalling at #2 that same summer. They were bigger than Jimi at the time of Woodstock(Jimi is now just mythologized product with a very-much exaggerated rewrite of his history)
Ah, the wonders of payola and desperate attempts at hyping a song to make it seem "bigger" than it really is. Jennifer Lopez supposedly had 3 number one hits in 2005, but it doesn't seem like anyone actually bought the singles of any of them - they certainly don't ring a bell to me -
and wasn't all Sony "busted" doing the big payola thing in 2005 anyways?
