Yes the Byrds were great in their time and I've been to see Roger play live some. Sometimes I read that he's a great under-rated guitar player, and that's not entirely true or false. He is recognized for his skill, but when you play the same songs for over 40 years, its kind of hard to tell how good he might really be. I'm glad the SAC aren't being so lame as to only do I&P. I accidentally bought a 3 disc "60's classics" CDs, only to get a bunch of 1995 remakes of one-hit wonders. Just like the Beatles did the Jesus interview as a publicity stunt and turned down millions to reunite in the 70's, maybe Roger McGuinn thought that by not reforming the Byrds it would add to the hype that the Beatles get.
How should SAC promote their new album? I posted earlier that something gimmicky or some publicity stunt and bringing on more new songs would help. John Fogerty does music videos and has an old and new audience. SAC needs to make a comeback, not just an oldies revival.
