Actually FCSAC's "Cincinnati Woman" was released as a single, barely. Even tho Freddy appeared on American Bandstand in August '67 (a month before SAC debuted on AB) promoting it, almost nobody bought the record! It's pretty scarce; took me years to find a copy.
An acetate of BIMT Psych-Out style *might* have been up on ebay awhile back.....the winner may have been Nancy??
Never knew all those details about the Camaro-Tomorrow commercial. Thanx George. The Cyrkle & Quicksilver Messenger Service also did Camaro radio spots, but no TV commercials...
Good luck with your project Gray....if you're ever in touch with the right people at MCA/UNIversal, convince them to check out those vaults!

: Hi Matt and Gray...
: There were a couple of odd sac diddies that
: never saw the light of day...one was the sac
: backing Freddy Cannon on a song...Cincinnati
: something...?
: then Dick Clark had us do a different
: recording of Birds in my Tree for
: Psych-Out...it never made it to the film...I
: guess DCP has it somewhere...?
: there was also a Coppertone commercial and a
: Chevy Camaro commercial we
: recorded...neither of those were ever used
: either....the Camaro commercial used the
: music of Tomorrow...but it said Camro...we
: were also filmed for that
: commercial...driving the car to the beach
: and all of us getting out dressed in old
: time swim suits...the body stocking
: type...pretty funny...never saw it though.

: UNI singles anthology = great idea! Lotsa
: interesting releases. Seems right up
: Rev-Ola's alley. Universal were notorious
: for being hard to deal with in the past (and
: wanted way too much $$ for licensing), which
: is why I was so surprised to see Peppermint
: Trolley Company get the digital treatment.
:
: SAC single mixes definitely differ from
: their album counterparts.
: "Tomorrow" is a completely
: different, earlier recording. Certain
: intruments on "Guru" &
: "Baltimore" may have been
: re-recorded. "Baltimore" has a
: longer fadeout. The mono "Miss
: Attraction" has a very different feel
: to it (no left-to-right panning).
:
: I'm willing to bet there's some unreleased
: SAC lying around gathering dust... alternate
: takes of familiar tunes, at the very least.
: It just seems no one at these large record
: companies has any initiative to scour the
: vaults for an artist who isn't going to sell
: a zillion copies. Would be great to hear
: unreleased material from Fever Tree, Orange
: Colored Sky, Rainy Daze etc etc.

: Well, I have an idea for a compilation of
: 45s
: on UNI and Shamley, so perhaps that would be
: an ideal vehicle to include some of the SAC
: mono mixes. There was a lot of odd bits and
: pieces released on 45 by that label: Marcia
: Strassman (of Welcome back Kotter fame) had
: 3 "flower power" singles, then
: there's Tim Gilbert's Buckleyesque outing
: which along with material by bands like the
: Hook, Rainy Daze, Lollipop Shoppe, Calliope,
: Merrel Fankhauser and HMS Bounty, Factory,
: Daily Flash, Druids of Stonehenge, Fever
: Tree, etc. would make a fantastic collection
: of pop psych.
:
: It's just sorting out the licensing with UNI
: that might prove a hassle.

: we'd love it if you could reissue ANY SAC in
: a
: loving way. please carry on.
