i am thinking of naming some of my athearn 70 foot passenger cars and MDC 60 passenger cars after michigan military personnel who have been killed in combat in iraq and afgahnistan as a way to honor their ulitmate contribution for freedom. does anyone know any names of michigan soldiers and marines killed in action plus their rank? one michigan vet's name i will put on one of my athearn 70 foot clerestory roof coaches is frederick william woods. he was one of my grandmad dora's (my dad's mom) younger brothers. at age of 15 he got his parents permission in spring 1941 to enlist in the navy. on december 7, 1941, he was aboard the destroyer USS Aylwin. he was awarded two medals. one for shooting down a dive bomber and the second for helping sailors out of the water from a sunken ship.
