The junk yard went out of business because it didn't have the access that a rail connection could provide...er, I might be thinking of a different junk yard out on M-53.
Personally, I don't have any idea what the empty building across from the middle school is. If no one else does, I'll try to find out.
The gravel pit would be off of Walker Road, with the entrance on the other side of the old ROW. Or, it seems like there might be one about a mile north, off of Cooper Road...
