KOXE Cement is a "imagineered" company I have carried around for several years..even has it's own fleet of locomotives!
Several KOXE Cement plants dot the thumb..with Kingston hosting the main facility..Watertown, Bad Axe, Emmett, and Munger hosting other smaller plants that have rail service.
I never knew about the junk yard in Hemans, I just scopped the area with help of google earth..I dont see the junk yard.
I cant belive that I missed the old stamping plant in Snover...juging by the size of the plant..it could recive a car or 2 a week.
I had heard that the "old bus garage" was something..a lumber yard would fit the bill ( 1 or 2 of the buildings remain other than the garage itself).
I do have one question in Sandusky..what was in the building that was the Great Lakes Dairy supply on the south side of town. The place is empty again..but it appeares to have been either another lumber yard or possibly a tractor dealership (original Ford/New Holland dealership?).
Charles..I had thought of Amtek there in Peck..but all they make is sensors..very few trucks come out of there due to the size of the product, so I decided not to include them at this time.
The Moore & Carter lumber yard in Peck is behind the village park. It is no longer a lumber yard..but most of the buildings remain. The store is currently being used as the Peck senior citizens hall..the lumber sheds are now used for storage. I had figured that I could twist reality enough to have this location remain open and busy enough to recive the occasional centerbeam or boxcar of lumber and other building materials.
I could not spot tha gravel pit near the road commission lot..I do see a fresh pond though...
Thats all for now! Dave C
