Ok, I think I missed something...where did the Koxe Cement company come from? Is that something that really used to exist?
And you're missing a few potential industries.
Hemans- isn't there a junk yard not too far from the old R-o-W in the Hemans area that could have expanded to the point of shipping a car or two of scrap once in a while (theoretically)?
Snover- "Home of the Snover Snoozer"...I know there's a factory on the east side of town that's empty now (and I can't remember whose plant it was), but it's not that far away from the DC&S that they couldn't have had a short spur running to it.
Sandusky- It's not there anymore, or not exactly but the Kubota dealer (I think that's what they sell) on the south side of town took over the old school bus garage when they built the new garage by the high school. Sometime before that site was used for the bus garage, there was a lumberyard there. In a distant memory, I can see old lumber buildings back by where the tracks would have run. I don't know if those buildings are still there, but my guess is they've been removed by this point in time. I don't know whose lumberyard that would have been, but if it was long enough ago, I bet it could have possibly been served by the DC&S at one time.
Also, I think there might be a sand pit just north of the road commission's yard (north side of Walker Road). It might be able to ship a carload or two every so often.
Peck- Where's the Moore & Carter at in Peck? I don't recall seeing a lumberyard there recently... What about the factory on the south side of Peck? I doubt they build anything really big in reality, but it's changed names a bunch of times over the years, and (through the wonders of rewriting history to fit what we want it to say) it could be shipping some sort of carload freight.
Additionally, what's to say there wouldn't be a couple farmers along the line looking to load the occasional car or two from their fields (I think there was something like this on the HESR east of Saginaw before the line was abandoned and removed a few years back)?
Charles W.
EDIT- Forgot to add this earlier but...by connecting with the HESR at Caro and Sandusky both, are you figuring to somehow short-haul the HESR over the DC&S/DBC&W, Dave?
