I wouldn't count on too much having gone to the SCRC yard south of Sandusky. Maybe a couple carloads of salt per year, but that would be about it. Most of the gravel and sand they use comes from local pits (it's easier and cheaper to haul the stuff a short distance than it is to pay the expense of using rail to get material from outside sources).
What about lumber for Moore & Carter in Sandusky? Or some sort of lumber transload facility for the local lumberyards, located in Sandusky or the Peck area? Also, what about some sort of gravel/cement traffic for the concrete plant on the east side of town (served via an extension built to the plant back when the plant was built, for delivery of large quantities of pre-mixed concrete)?
Some more ideas, take 'em or leave 'em...
