Hi Nannie G
I don't know about your recipe, but there is a really easy one I use with meatballs and I've used it as well with sausages before.
I use two cans of "Manwich" to one large can of crushed pineapple (NOT DRAINED) for every 5 lbs of meat. I add a couple cans of mushrooms (pieces and stems OR whole, DRAINED) as well.
It is so easy and tastes awesome! I take it to all my church/work potlucks and it is always the first thing to go.
I usually use a crockpot to cook it in and let it go all day on high. The flavours really meld well together. I have done it in the oven in a covered rosating pan as well at 350 degrees for AT LEAST an hour and a half with just as good results! If you find the sauce is too thick, then add a little water to thin it out as desired.
I would boil and brown all the sausages first though just to make sure they're at least cooked part way as well as to reduce the amount of fat released into the sauce. When I've done it I've cut the sausages into 4 or 5 pieces after they're mostly cooked and cooled enough to handle so they're easier to eat and go a little farther. I usually serve it over Minute Rice.
Hope this helps!
