I agree with Sue; a hearty, cool weather menu would be appreciated by the Lodge folks. A Taco Bar can be costly & slow, it's hard to portion control. Perhaps consider; Jambalaya or Chicken, Broccoli & Rice casserole, with tossed salad, crusty rolls/bread, and sheet cake. Or, use your Taco idea and make a heavy Taco Soup with cornbread, salad & dessert. All are very economical (I served 130-150 last semester for about $100), can be made ahead and are very tasty and filling. Search recipes online or repost if you want mine.
How will this meal be served, family style at table, waiter served, buffet line? Easiest and most fun is buffet line where they get plate, utensils and help themselves to salad & dressing, you & niece serve maindish and dessert. Bread & butter can be on table or line. You'll get a chance to interact and get their compliments. Sounds like it'll be a fun evening. Good luck.

: i would go with a fall type menu instead of
: tacos. you have lots of time to find stuff
: on sale and freeze. what about a roast beef
: dinner? or chili??? pasta type dinner? i
: think tacos cost more money than those types
: of dinners that i mentioned
: good luck!
