It is a wonderful idea to have the combination party. It is best if they open gifts in private. This will allow them more time to mingle with their guests. Your menu is fine. Maybe add a warm vegetable.

: Hi my daughter was married this summer on her
: husband's ten day leave from Iraq. He is now
: Home. (THANK GOD) And we are planning a
: wedding reception/home coming party for
: them. I am doing every thing my self, It
: will be more like a large shower instead of
: a reception. They were married on the beach
: so it's going to be a beach theme. We are
: expecting 50-75 people.
: The menu is:
:
: Ham
: Turkey
: Meat Balls
: potatoe salad
: Deviled eggs
: pasta salad
: cheese balls/crackers
: cheese/pickles/olive tray
: Fruit Tray
: Vegetable Tray
: Rolls
:
: Wedding Cake
: Cheese cake (grooms Cake)
:
: Ice tea
: Lemon Aid
: Bottled Water
:
: We are Also Having a Candy Buffet. (Thats
: why I'm not having alot of sweets)
:
: This is my First solo event. I have a lot of
: Help
: from Family and friends. But would like to
: know if this menu sounds to plain. There
: will be a lot of older people and wanted to
: keep the food
: simple. Also my daughter has not had any
: showers so she will be getting all her gifts
: at the party. Should she open them there or
: later at home? Any Help or suggestions would
: be of a GREAT HELP.
