I suspect a misRx but at this point, they're all so overwhelmed with two aging parents and a borderling/bipolar sibling that I'd just be muddying the waters. She was on one of the cog dec drugs but, while it clearly made her feel/appear/sound stronger, she found the side effects more than she could bear. She went off them, and about two weeks later, fell in the shower and ended up in the ER. That's when the drama started. My brother has been looking after both folks for the past four years and I think he's just exhausted, so he may have engaged in a little hyperbole.
Another sib flew in and checked it out and says she's the same as always, maybe a bit more frail, but otherwise doing about the same. I wondered if I wasn't seeing a bit of oxygen dep in there as well and no one is checking for sleep apnea either. Too many docs, no central chief. The usual healthcare dilemma.
Thank you so much for your support. Your study was interesting to read about - I agree that it's happening again. Good for you for catching and studying that!! Her docs agree that dementia types are falling under the alzheimer's umbrella again. It's sad, that; different Rx would equal different meds and possible better outcome short-term. Oh well.
