Oh Hopey....I am so sorry that this is all happening. Do you have sibs or other family that can help with your Mom? It is such an overwhelming responsibility and on top of your other issues this year. Have the docs been able to get your Mom on one of the newer meds for cognitive decline?
This is just an aside but about 20 years ago I did a pilot study to look at cognitive decline in the elderly (60 plus group). An interesting observation was that a muddling of symptoms were grouped into an "Alzheimer-Like" diagnosis when in reality the patient suffered from Multi-Infarct Dimentia (MID). Fast forward to today and this same pattern seems to prevail. So sad since the MID could be amenable to treatment. Hope, this is not to suggest that the docs have missed the dx for your Mom...just an observation. Please take care of yourself and the big heavy plate that you carry.
