My daughter said she had 8 minutes' warning to find shelter but she's okay too. The main electrical hub went out in Memphis jes before these storms hit, so lots didn't get the warnings beyond jes that brief one she was lucky enough to hear. A cowriter in Birmingham had a 40-foot tree fall on her bedroom where she and her husband had left to grab their kids. Another friend lost her house, using her cellphone to get news (no landlines back up yet) and I'm trying to organize stuff to get up to her personally. If they do like they did after Katrina, anything I send via UPS will end up in Knoxville for weeks. They won't let anyone up unless they come in large groups like churches, etc.
