hello folks, a really extraordinary firecracker of a lady lost her battle with bone cancer last week, i found out friday night and attended the service saturday.
she worked at the place i get my haircut at, and called me her boyfriend. and believe me, NO other woman could wash my hair, only she could and she let them all know it. she'd call one of those other ladies a (you know what) in a second and they steered clear of her lol.
a small lady but could reach you easily if you know what i mean, a real fighter who i always greeted with a hug and a kiss and looked forward to hearing about her family, her trips to atlantic city, and her favorite passion, the NYC Yankees. what a sweetheart, but more importantly, one of the bravest women i've ever met. She tried all kinds of chemo, treatments, she didn't want to die and fought for life because life was just so precious to her. She reminded me so much of my own mother, so incredibly brave.
In the end, it was her time, but i'll always treasure the fortune of having her in my life. i spoke to her about 1.5 months ago, i loved to send her flowers and lottery tickets, and i was able to tell her that i loved her.
i'll miss her alot, her nickname was "babydoll" and she sure was. miss you gerri
