One time a few years back while I was in community college, I got mono and then Epstein-Barr. I didn't recognize my professors and finally had to drop outta school cuz clearly, if I didn't know their names or remember them, I fo sho couldn't do the work.
It's still possible, I believe, that she might be misdiagnosed BUT it's as you say; hope fo the best, prepare fo the worst.
And the assisted living facilities can be very good. You'll feel less concerned about her if she's being monitored, should she get a diagnosis that would require all that. With her family history, it's of course essential that she get that battery of tests to determine the cause.
Po boo. I know this sucks. All y'all have known such love and triumph and such sadness and loss.
You've known mo about life in your short life than most will eva know.
