I am so so very sorry. Lost my mother in law and uncle to alzheimer's. One thing I would do just for the heck of it is have her tested for Lyme Disease and its coinfections--not just with any doctor. But with an LLMD--Lyme Literate Medical Dr.

Lyme symptoms can be very similar to alzheimer's. I have it and so does my daughter. My daughter called me from school crying last year because she could not remember how to spell her name. She was 16 at the time. My memory suffered as well. I could not understand what I was reading, words in my sentences were all jumbled up, and I heard blah blah blah when people talked.
There is a Lyme forum on healingwell.com and members there can tell you who to see in your mom's area. It is worth a shot, all be it a long shot.
