hello all, granny is hanging in there but i can't blame her for refusing to eat. i think it's her way of saying, i'm ready, i've had my run, just let god take over. but they put a feeding tube in yesterday anyway, more so to give her medication to lower her blood pressure which continues to spike. she's very agitated so who knows.
her name is Sadie Curtis, a virginia born whippersnapper of a lady who married a guy (who i'm named after )also from virginia. before my grandpa died a few years ago they were married for 68 years.
she was a deaconness at her church for many years, a wonderful lady. always so loving and kind and funny too. really into church, one of those southern baptist folks. a real lady, she wouldn't walk into a church without a dress or skirt on, even if it was into the church annex to decorate for an affair. i'm the same way, i will not go to any function at a church without a suit on. and i NEVER saw her in a pair of jeans
and for someone who had an 8th grade education, she had more wisdom than most people. she always worked, and could sew, knit, or crochet just about anything, just an amazing, amazing woman to know.
people have said to her that they can see a halo above her head, and it's true.
when alzheimer's started you would think she lost her religion lol. man oh man some of the things that woman said would embarass a sailor. eww wee, AND if any woman came up to us when i took her out, she'd go to hit them if they wanted to hug me, she'd say, "hands off, he's MINE !" she swore i was her husband, it was hysterical.i was always one of her favorite's,
she'd make these "care packages" when we went places. a brown paper bag filled with things like soda and fried chicken and a roll and napkins and cookies, all wrapped up in foil. and tasted so good you'd think you had died and gone to dixie.
and so, who knows if she's entering the twilight of her life, maybe so, maybe not, i just know she's so spiritually strong that she hangs on as best she can under the circumstances.
she has the most beautiful blue eyes, when i was kid i would just lay in her lap and stare into them. they are losing their sparkle, but they are still there to stare into..she's my sweetie.
thanks everyone, i will keep you up to date on how she's doing. Sister Sadie is still here ...
