Sorry to hear about poor Bob. No 'gators up here, but we get bears, wolves, coyotes, and cougars in our back yard all the time (and the occasional skunk...ask my cat about the skunks....... 
). They're all completely harmless unless you do something stupid, so up here in the small mountain towns we don't worry about them too much (just keep an eye on the kids and pets). But sometimes a bear or coyote wanders into one of the bigger cities and people go all nuts and start shooting at it like it's going to eat their children for breakfast or something...sheesh, you'd think humans would be smart enough to know better.
May Bob rest in peace. He's in a better place now...alligators go to Heaven, right?
