I hate that; it takes so long to grow a truly adult specimen and despite the 'comeback' that they're makin', fo the most part we all practice a 'live and let live' policy. We almost had a riot in our neighborhood when a young adult male (runnin' around 11 feet) was hit by a car. We kept him safe and someone called the Wildlife and Fisheries guys, despite my warnings not to. There were some good ol' boys more than willing to wrestle him into their truck and haul him to some quite part of the bayou. He wasn't hurt that bad.
But nope. They came. They killed him but the cops had to come first, the crowd was pretty pissed. We'd lost enough....to lose a part of our heritage in that way jes seemed like mo of the same. Very painful.
Jes hate it, hate it.
