Gee, we are computer bums today!
Here in Canada, we can still send letters of support/care packages etc. to our soldiers overseas. If you google 'sending letters to soldiers' you will get some other American orgs. that will send them for you.
I have had my classes do this over the years, but usually at Christmas or our Remembrance Day in November. I can imagine this would be a lull time for such letters, so, brilliant idea! I wonder if visiting a nursing home or school would help you to collect some more letters?
Sometimes we feel lonely surrounded by all of our family and friends. Can't imagine how they feel. Apparently there is a new movie coming out called Stop Loss that deals with soldiers being sent back to battle after thinking they had finished their tour of duty. Kind of like dealing with a recurrence, emotionally, I would think.
Anyway, don't know what the movie will be like, but your timing might be spot on.
